Gesucht: sensibel und niveauvoll – metallacyclische Rutheniumkomplexe wurden synthetisiert und als Nah-IR-Sensibilisatoren in einer Farbstoffsolarzelle untersucht. Das Abstimmen des HOMO-Niveaus durch Modifizierung der Ligandenstruktur verbesserte den Wirkungsgrad der auf diesen Komplexen basierenden Zellen auf bis zu 10.7 % (siehe Schema).
