Silberketten wurden aus Silberpartikeln auf einem Träger erzeugt und in ein Manganoxid mit Hollandit-Struktur eingebaut, wodurch einzelne Silberatome als katalytisch aktive Zentren präsentiert werden (siehe Bild). So ergaben sich eine hervorragende Sauerstoffaktivierung und eine hohe Aktivität in der katalytischen Oxidation von Formaldehyd.
