Peroxo und Peroxid: Die Reaktion von [{WO(O2)2}2(μ-O)]2− mit 0.5 Äquivalenten HNO3 ergibt ein vierkerniges Peroxowolframat (1; siehe Bild), das eine drastisch erhöhte Aktivität in der Epoxidierung von Cyclooctenen mit H2O2 zeigt. Das Katalysesystem wurde auf die selektive Oxidation verschiedener Arten von Substraten mit 1.0–1.5 Äquivalenten H2O2 angewendet.
