Tauschgeschäft: Eine skalierbare, atomökonomische, enantio- und diastereoselektive Synthese von trisubstituierten γ-Butyrolactonen, bei der cis-β-Lactone eine dyotrope Umlagerung vom Wagner-Meerwein-Typ eingehen (siehe Schema), ermöglichte auch effiziente und schutzgruppenfreie formale Synthesen und Totalsynthesen vieler Xanthanolid-Naturstoffe.
