Ein Hybridelektrolyt mit Tetramethylammonium (TMA) und dem Redoxpaar Hydrochinon/Benzochinon ist durchsichtiger als die üblichen I/I3-Elektrolyte und absorbiert kaum im sichtbaren Spektralbereich. Farbstoffsolarzellen mit diesem Hybridelektrolyt erzielen höhere Wirkungsgrade bei der Umwandlung von Licht in Elektrizität. FTO=Fluordotiertes Zinnoxid.
