Jenseits von Tolmans elektronischem Parameter: Die chemischen 31P-NMR-Verschiebungen einfach zugänglicher Carben-Phenylphosphiniden-Addukte ermöglichen es, die relativen π-Akzeptoreigenschaften von Carbenen zu bestimmen. Kombiniert mit dem Wert von Tolmans elektronischem Parameter lässt sich auch die relative reine σ-Donierung von Carbenen ermitteln.
