Ein Strukturmodell für den Übergangszustand der σ-Bindungsmetathese zwischen Si-H- und M-E-Bindungen (M: d0-Übergangsmetall) wurde in Form eines Yttriumhydrid-Silan-Komplexes erhalten (siehe Bild). Die Silan-Einheit verbleibt entweder im Komplex oder wird in Reaktionen des Komplexes mit anderen Substraten freigesetzt.
