Mehrschichtstrukturen aus Co2+ und einem Porphyrin auf der Oberfläche von reduziertem Graphenoxid (siehe Bild) sind preiswerte und potenziell hoch effiziente Katalysatoren für die Sauerstoffreduktion. Sie sind ähnlich elektrokatalytisch aktiv wie kommerzielle C/Pt-Katalysatoren, verfügen aber über eine bessere Methanolresistenz und Langzeitstabilität.
