H2O oder NH3 bewirken die reversible Umwandlung des blauen Cobalt-haltigen Metall-organischen Gerüsts (MOF) BP in das rote RP. Entfernen/Anlagern von Terephthalatliganden resultiert dabei in einem Gattereffekt, der unter bestimmten Bedingungen die Verkapselung und Freisetzung kleiner Lösungsmittelmoleküle ermöglicht. Hier wurde erstmals für dreidimensionale MOFs die topologische Umwandlung eines selbstdurchdringenden in ein gegenseitig durchdringendes Netz beobachtet.
