Ampelschaltung: Die dichte π-Stapelung von Thiophen-anellierten Bithiophenderivaten im kristallinen Zustand führte zu einer deutlichen Rotverschiebung der Absorptions- und Fluoreszenzbanden (siehe Photographie einer Lösung und eines Festkörpers unter UV-Licht). Durch Ändern der Orientierung eines der Thiophenringe konnte die Stapelstruktur modifiziert werden.
