Das diskrete [I2Br2 ]2−-Dianion wird zum ersten Mal durch dynamische Umlagerung eines kristallinen Diammoniumsalzes erhalten, das Diiod-Dämpfe nach einem Wärmereiz freisetzt und eine anpassungsfähige Porosität hat. In ihrer Zuschrift auf S. 13686 ff. zeigen K. D. M. Harris, P. Metrangolo, G. Resnati et al., dass der Prozess durch die Größenanpassung von Kationen und supramolekularen Anionen gesteuert wird, allgemein ist, da er auch die seltenen [I2Cl2]2−- und [I4]2−-Dianionen liefert, und reversibel ist.
