Die Selbstreplikation von lichtsensitiven Nanopartikel-Dimeren erreicht eine optimale Replikationsgeschwindigkeit unter gepulster, nicht etwa unter kontinuierlicher Einstrahlung, wie B. A. Grzybowski, M. O. de la Cruz et al. in ihrer Zuschrift auf S. 177 ff. zeigen. Die optimale Selbstreplikation erfordert also nicht unbedingt eine konstante Energiezufuhr; worauf es vielmehr ankommt ist, dass das System zu genau dem richtigen Zeitpunkt mit Energie versorgt wird.
