Atom economy made easy: After in situ activation, a simple air- and moisture-stable complex derived from RuCl3 and PPh3, catalyzes the hydrovinylation of a variety of terminal and internal alkynes with substituted acrylates in good to excellent yields and regioselectivities (see scheme).
