Sorption of solutes by poly(ethylene oxide). II. Benzene at finite concentrations

We have determined the activity of benzene in poly(ethylene oxide) over concentration ranges from 0 to 20 wt-% from 70° to 150°C using gas–liquid chromatography. The results are well corelated by the corresponding-states theory of Prigogine and Flory. Comparison between our results and those obtained by other workers using a “static” method indicate good agreement, except at very low benzene concentrations.
