Although there are many scientific publications on the heat sealing of thin films, the prevalence of systematic studies on ultrasonic welding is limited. Thomas van Oordt et al. describe the effect of ultrasonic welding parameters on the peel strength of polyethylene films and provide a practical guideline for a systematic adjustment of welding parameters. The image depicts the methods and results of the study: T-peel tests are applied on polyethylene strips, scanning electron microscopies illustrate peeled surfaces, and a three-dimensional analysis indicates the effect of the welder's amplitude and sealing time on the peel strength.
