The scanning electron micrograph of pristine jute shows that the fiber surface is smooth, while adherence of dye molecules onto the adsorbent surface is observed for spent jute. This evidenced dye adsorption by the jute. Optical images also indicate fiber surface coverage with dye molecules, as the natural golden color of the jute became red after adsorption. Adsorption on the jute involves physical forces, e.g., hydrogen bonding between N, S, and O of the dye and –OH groups of the fiber-cellulose, van der Waals force, etc.
