      Long-term use of NSAIDs has been associated with several unwanted side effects. Thus, many efforts have been made to develop selective COX-2 inhibitors. Herein, a series of 1,5-diaryl-1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized and evaluated as COX-2 inhibitors.

      Most of the currently on the market available NSAIDs show significant side effects in long term usage. To discover new safer anti-inflammatory drugs, a series of 2-phenoxynicotinic acid hydrazides were synthesized and evaluated for their analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.

      Although almost all organisms possess antioxidant defense and repair systems, these systems are insufficient to entirely prevent damage. To develop new antioxidants, pyridine derivatives linked to a pyrogallol residue were synthesized and evaluated for their potential antioxidant activity.
