The ARHP Program Subcommittee will meet in January to plan the topics and speakers for the 2003 Annual Scientific Meeting to be held October 23–28, 2003 in Orlando, Florida. To assist the ARHP in providing quality educational programs on topics of greatest interest to its members, a Call for Proposals is announced. Members and non-members may submit a proposal for the annual scientific meeting. A proposal can be given in a lecture, symposium, or hands-on interactive workshop format. Sessions are scheduled as concurrent for 60 or 90 minutes and may be placed on the program on any day/time during the annual scientific meeting, unless stated otherwise. Proposals must be received by November 12, 2002.

The proposal categories are: General Interest (educational programs of interest to the various health professional disciplines scheduled throughout the Annual Scientific Meeting as concurrent sessions), and Specialty Forum (a venue to exchange new ideas, address pertinent clinical topics or current professional issues in detail). These sessions are scheduled each day from 5:45 to 7:15 pm. The proposal formats are: Lecture (a single speaker), Symposium (should not exceed three speakers), or Workshop (should emphasize interaction and should not exceed three speakers).

PROPOSALSMUSTCONTAIN THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

  • Indicate whether this proposal is being submitted to ARHP only or to ARHP/ACR dually

  • Category and Format

  • Title and/or topic of the session

  • Purpose of the session in no more than three sentences

  • Learning objectives (maximum 4)

  • Intended audience and skill level (Fundamental [basic], Intermediate, or Advanced)

  • Preferred length of presentation (60 or 90 minutes)

  • Name of coordinator, affiliation, complete mailing address, telephone, fax, and e-mail address

  • Name(s) of speaker(s) (maximum of three) with titles of their presentations, affiliations, complete mailing addresses, telephone, fax, e-mail addresses, and resumes or curriculum vitae (limited to two pages per speaker);

  • Content outline (Please insert as last item of submission).

Session presenters and the coordinator are responsible for their own travel and must pay the appropriate registration fee. No funds are available for honoraria. Presenters will be required to provide conflict of interest/disclosure statements if applicable. The coordinator will be notified regarding acceptance or rejection approximately eight weeks after the proposal deadline. The ARHP reserves the right to 1) accept all or part of any proposal, 2) copy edit the title, purpose and objectives and 3) adjust the requested time to meet the needs of the program. Date and time of presentation cannot be guaranteed.

Two awards developed in partnership with the Research and Education Foundation (REF) and the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals (ARHP) were awarded to rheumatology health professionals. The REF, through the support of the Industry Roundtable, will fund both awards. ARHP wishes to congratulate the recipients of these awards.

The recipients of the Rheumatology-Related Health Professional Investigator Award are:
