Let me briefly introduce myself: after obtaining a “Vordiplom” in Biology from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany, I continued to study Biotechnology in a trinational programme at the ESBS in Strasbourg, France. To complete my studies I spent 9 months in the US (in North Carolina) where I performed the practical part of my Master's thesis. Upon my return to Germany I moved to Cologne and started a Ph.D. thesis working on the basal body proteome of the unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. I stayed on at the University of Cologne as a Post-Doc and Lecturer. During that time I was also able to gain some first insights into the publishing world by additionally working as an Editorial Assistant for Protist. I am very excited about my new position as Assistant Editor of BioEssays, where I have been since July of this year, and am looking forward to the challenges and tasks that lie ahead.
