Graphene road to better catalysts! The cover picture shows a roadmap from graphene to rational designed catalysts. In their Review on p. 378 ff., J. Zhu, A. Holmen, and D. Chen discuss the recent progress in theoretical and experimental efforts for obtaining a deep understanding of the effects of carbon nanostructure and surface functional groups on the proton affinity, metal–carbon nanofiber (CNF) interaction, and electronic properties, as well as their catalytic consequences. It is demonstrated that CNFs with different graphene sheet orientations can be used as a platform in rational catalyst design for various reaction systems.
