Ligands at the wheel: The pivotal role of ligands for the palladium-catalyzed functionalization of remote C sp3[BOND]H bonds has been demonstrated. The presence of the ligand enhances the reactivity of the inert C sp3[BOND]H bond and controls the selectivity of the process. DG=Directing group, FG=functional group.
