The paramagnetic FeII high-spin complexes which partially align in the magnetic field of the NMR spectrometer. This results in giant residual diploar couplings (RDCs), the analysis of which allows the structural refinement of the iron complexes. The approach provides an additional analytical tool for the characterization of small paramagnetic complexes in solution.
