Abstract

The absorption rate of sulfur dioxide into limestone slurries has been observed under various experimental conditions, using a stirred tank absorber which had a plane surface. The effects of the interfacial concentration of SO2, the slurry concentration, the concentration of SO2−2 ion, and the limestone particle size on the rate have been examined.

Taking the effect of SO2−2 ion on the rate into consideration, a mathematical model for SO2absorption into limestone slurries based on the film concept has been developed. The model can explain the mechanism of SO2 absorption into limestone slurries.

Abstract

On a examiné dans diverses conditions expérmentales, la vitesse d'absorption de l'anhydride sulfureux dans des suspensions de chaux dans un absorbeur-réservior agité avec interface plane. On a étudié les effects de la concentration de SO2 à l'interface, de la concentration de l'ion SO2−2 et des dimensions des kparticules de chaux sur la vitesse d'absorption. En prenant en considération l'effet de l'ion SO2−2 sur la vitesse, on établi un modèle mathématique pour l'absorptio de SO2 dans des suspensions de chaux, basé sur le concept du film. Le modèle peut expliquer le mécanisme de l'absorption de SO2 dans des suspensions de chaux.
