Abstract

Distillation of water has been investigated in packed columns of 300, 500 and 750 mm diameter. Both ordered packings (Goodloe, Mellapak and Sulzer CY) and random packings (Hy-Pak, Mini-ring and Pall-ring) were studied and performance compared. It was found that, with surface treatments, phosphor bronze packings show good performance and insignificant scale-up factors. Plastic materials are not suitable for water distillation because of their poor wetting characteristics.

Abstract

On a átudiá la distillation de l'eau dans des colonnes à garnissage de 300, 500 et 750 mm de diamàtre. On a átudiá les garnissages ordonnts (Goodloe, Mellapak et Sulzer CY) ainsi que les garnissages aláatoires (Hy-Pak, Mini-ring and Pall-ring), et leur efficacitá a átá comparáe. Les garnissages de bronze phosphoreux montrent un bon rendement et des facteurs de mise à l'áchelle nágligeables, lorsqu'ils ont subit des traitements de surface. Les matáriaux de plas-tique ne conviennent pas pour la distillation de l'eau à cause de leurs faibles caractáristiques de mouillage.
