Abstract

This paper describes phase inversion phenomena in stirred vessels. In particular, the effects of mechanical operating-parameters on dispersion types were investigated. It was found that when the impeller stirring speed was lower than 400 rpm, the aqueous phase became continuous, while when it was higher than 1050 rpm, the phase which had the higher viscosity became dispersed. Surface active agents have strong effects on phase inversion phenomena.

Abstract

On décrit dans cet article les phénomènes d'inversion de phase dans des réservoirs agités. On a étudié en particulier les effets des paramètres de fonctionnement mécaniques sur les types de dispersion. On a trouvé que lorsque la vitesse d'agitation de la turbine était inférieure à 400 rpm, la phase aqueuse devient continue, alors que lorsqu'elle est supérieure à 1050 rpm, la phase qui a la plus grande viscosité devient dispersée. Les agents tensioactifs influent fortement sur les phénomènes d'inversion de phases.
