An alternative method for evaluation of intrinsic viscosity

Abstract

An alternative method for determination of intrinsic viscosities is described which evolves from the application of l'Hǒpital's rule to the expression defining the intrinsic viscosity. The method yields independent evaluations of the intrinsic viscosity and does not involve extrapolation beyond the range of experimental data or rely on a theoretical expression associated with such extrapolations. The application of the method is illustrated and comparisons are included with the results obtained by traditional approaches.

Abstract

On décrit une nouvelle méthode pour la détermination des viscosités intrinsèques qui découlent de l'application de la loi de l'Hǒpital à l'expression définissant la viscosité intrinsèque. La méthode donne des évaluations indépendantes de la viscosité intrinsèque; elle n'implique pas d'extrapolation au-delà de la gamme des données expérimentales et ne repose par sur une expression théorique associée à de telles extrapolations. On illustre l'application de la méthode et des comparaisons accompagnent les résultats obtenus par les approches traditionnelles.
