      The cover picture shows an impression of industrial preparation of aromatized Nimodipine by sunlight and air on the arid lands. Visible light is most strongly emitted in the solar spectrum on the surface of the earth. Now Qiang Liu and co-workers develop a metal-free and visible-light driven aerobic aromatization catalyzed by organic dye eosin Y bis(tetrabutyl ammonium salt) (TBA-eosinY). With the aid of K2CO3, the aerobic catalytic system converts 1,4-dihydropyridines such as Nimodipine to their corresponding pyridine derivatives efficiently under visible light irradiation at room temperature. More details are discussed in the article by Liu et al. on page 1245–1250.

      A palladium nanoparticle catalyst (PdNPs@[Bmim]Lac) has been prepared by a simple, mild, and efficient chemical approach using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium lactate ([Bmim]Lac) ionic liquid) as a stabilizer. This catalyst exhibits excellent activity, stability, recyclability, and simple manipulation in Suzuki-Miyaura reactions at room temperature in air.

      Aurone derivatives were synthesized in good to high yields by PBu3-catalyzed intramolecular 5-exo cyclization of 2-alkynoylphenols. The reaction proceeds in high regioselectivity without forming 6-endo cyclization products.

      In this paper, we developed a long wavelength emission fluorescent (612 nm) chemosensor with high selectivity for H2PO4 ions according to the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT). The sensor can exist in two tautomeric forms ('keto' and 'enol') in the presence of Fe3+ ion, Fe3+ may bind with the 'keto' form of the sensor. Furthermore, the in situ generated GY-Fe3+ ensemble could recover the quenched fluorescence upon the addition of H2PO4 anion resulting in an off-on-type sensing with a detection limit of micromolar range in the same medium, and other anions, including F, Cl, Br, I, AcO, HSO4, ClO4 and CN had nearly no influence on the probing behavior. The test strips based on 2-[2-hydroxy-4-(diethylamino) phenyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]phenazine and Fe3+ metal complex (GY-Fe3+) were fabricated, which could act as a convenient and efficient H2PO4 test kits.

      A metal-free and environmentally friendly aerobic aromatization photosensitized by organic dye eosin Y bis(tetrabutyl ammonium salt) (TBA-eosinY) has been developed. With the aid of K2CO3, the aerobic catalytic system converts 1,4-dihydropyridines to their corresponding pyridine derivatives efficiently under visible light irradiation (λ=450 nm) at room temperature.

      Hydrothermal treatment of lanthanides and picolinic acid generated five chiral (P21) isostructural lanthanide coordination complexes, featuring one dimensional right-handed 21 helical chains constructed from LnN3O6 of square antiprism geometry and N,O-chelated pic groups.       CLR of methane was used to produce synthesis gas (H2 and CO) from natural gas and light hydrocarbons with oxygen carriers instead of molecular oxygen. Due to synergic effect between Ni and iron oxide, the redox reactivity and anti-sintering of the oxygen carriers for chemical looping reforming can be improved by low content Ni addition, however, the improvement was not apparent as Ni addition reached 1 wt% or more because more nickel loaded resulted in methane decomposition into H2 and carbon leading to carbon deposition.

      A Cu-Cr/γ-Al2O3-La2O3 showed good activity and stability in the continuous dehydrogenation of n-pentanol to n-pentanal under the protection of N2. The addition of Cr favored the formation of more easily reducible CuO and suppressed the aggregation of copper during the calcinations, reduction and reaction process, resulting in the well dispersed and stabilized Cu0. Furthermore, it can also tune the acid-base properties of Cu/γ-Al2O3-La2O3, and the lower amount of acidic sites in Cu-Cr/γ-Al2O3-La2O3 suppressed the dehydration in oxidant-free dehydrogenation of n-pentanol, accounting for the higher selectivity for n-pentanal.
