Abstract
Chronic angina occurs in more than 6.5 million adults in the USA, and there are 400,000 new cases diagnosed each year. William Heberden in 1772 described a “…disorder of the breast, marked with strong and peculiar symptoms… The seat of it, and sense of strangling and anxiety with which it is attended, may make it not improperly be called angina pectoris.” Copyright © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
