Because the role of radiotherapy in the treatment of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) has not been defined well, and because ACC often is considered radioresistant, the authors reviewed the available data on radiotherapy for patients with ACC. The results indicated that radiotherapy for ACC has significant therapeutic potential, and adjuvant radiotherapy was able to prevent local recurrence in most patients, although it remains to be demonstrated whether this will translate into improved survival.
