Mesoporous graphene with a surface area of 306 m2 g−1 has been synthesized by employing CaCO3 microspheres as hard templates. By surface modification with polydimethylsiloxane, the as-treated mesoporous graphene exhibited excellent absorption selectivity and recyclability, which has great potential in water purification, environmental protection, and cleanup of oil spills (see figure).
