The role of spirituality in the mediation process

Authors

Abstract

This article shares the findings of a study that explored aspects of a spiritually integrated mediation process. Specifically, the study sought to describe what makes mediation spiritual in nature, and how spirituality may affect or influence the mediation process. Semistructured phenomenological interviews were conducted with sixteen mediators who self-identified as integrating spirituality in their work, and five observers of these mediators. The study relates experiences in which mediators have integrated spirituality in mediation, with suggested implications for practice.
