The micrograph background image is of the same graphenes recorded by Schwartz et al using a new helium-ion microscope at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences/Oak Ridge National Laboratory (CNMS/ORNL). The application of oxygen-modified graphene for gas-phase reactions, which is reported on page 840, is a new approach to study the scarcely explored field of carbon catalysis. This field of metal-free carbon-based catalysis is of importance for developing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation process as carbon materials can be easily disposed of after their lifetime.
