Inside Back Cover: Harvesting Hydrogen Gas from Air Pollutants with an Unbiased Gas Phase Photoelectrochemical Cell (ChemSusChem 7/2017)

original image

The Inside Back Cover picture shows an all-gas-phase unbiased photoelectrochemical cell that converts volatile organic pollutants to CO2 at a TiO2 photoanode. Simultaneously, energy is recovered as hydrogen gas at a dark Pt cathode. Air remediation is coupled to energy recuperation in a stand-alone device. The presence of oxygen in the carrier gas promotes the mineralization efficiency with only limited loss in photocurrent. More details can be found in the Full Paper by Verbruggen et al. on page 1413 in Issue 7, 2017 (DOI: 10.1002/cssc.201601806).
