Abstract

Cytometry of microbes. The cytometric analysis, identification and functional characterization of microbes of diverse origin covers a broad range of technologies and applications. As symbolically shown, microbes can form complicated interrelationships that are far more complex than believed in the past. This issue of Cytometry Part A compiles the top papers from the “4th International Conference on Analysis of Microbial Cells at the Single Cell Level” held in Bad Schandau, Germany. Cover image is adapted from the article by Pamp et al. on pages 90–103 in this issue.
