The Raft of the Medusa protects the cytoplasmic sea from getting transfected by attacking DNA. This artist's rendering of the famous early 18th century painting by the French artist Théodore Géricault, illustrates the discovery by Kovács and co-workers that the density of lipid rafts negatively correlates with transfection efficiency with liposomes. (See the article by Kovács et al. on page 650 in this issue.)
