Abstract
The quest for stem cells arising from different tissues and cellular environments and their applications, for example in cell-based therapies, continues. How to identify, sort, culture and assay various stem cell types from the sea of other cells depicted on the cover is described by work from both Porretti et al. and Zimmerlin et al. in this first issue of 2010.
