The pit viper Bothrops jararaca presents in its venom, oligopeptides with multiple functions that not only inhibit angiotensin I-converting enzyme but also reduce blood pressure, as shown by turning the bitten apple into a pear. This discovery opens new options for the use of this snake's venom. (Read more in Lameu et al. on page 220 in this issue).
