Piedmont Natural Gas Company is an energy services company primarily engaged in the distribution of natural gas to over 1.0 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in portions of North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, including 62,000 customers served by municipalities who are Co.'s wholesale customers. Co. is also engaged in investing in joint venture, and energy-related businesses, including unregulated retail natural gas marketing, interstate natural gas storage and intrastate natural gas transportation. As of Oct 31 2007, Co. operated through two business segments, regulated utility and non-utility activities, both of which were conducted in the U.S.
