Abstract

The cover picture shows the cellular uptake of [ReIL(CO)3]n+ (L = ligand; n = 1 or 0) complexes with carbohydrate-pendant ligands. The ligand library includes (i) glucose/galactose as a carbohydrate, (ii) bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (DPA)/bis(2-quinolylmethyl)amine (DQA)/N-(2-pyridylmethyl)glycine (NPG) as the metal-binding component, and (iii) an ethylene chain as a linker between the metal-binding site and the O/C-glycosides. Microscopic analysis by using the fluorescent Re complex reveals that the complex stays in the cytosol and cannot penetrate into the nucleus. Details are discussed in the article by Y.
