Abstract

In the present study we have set up a straightforward methodology for the depolymerization of polyethers with fatty acid chlorides in the presence of catalytic amounts of abundant and cheap FeCl2 · 4H2O to yield well-defined products. The produced chloroesters can be useful building blocks in polymerization chemistry to prepare new high quality polymers. Thus, recycling of polymers is feasible using this protocol.
