Ionic powers: A basic ionic liquid is used as a catalyst for the preparation of biodiesel by transesterification of castor oil with methanol, the catalytic performance is compared with conventional catalysts and ionic liquids. A high yield of 96 % is achieved under optimal reaction conditions, and the green reaction procedure shows promise for industrial application.
