    • Ms. Kowalsky entered Boston University's graduate program in rehabilitation nursing after five years of general duty, home visiting and teaching. Since receiving her Master's degree, she has taught and worked as a clinical specialist in rehabilitation nursing at the Eastern Kentucky Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center. She is now a self-employed rehabilitation nursing consultant.


Camp nursing with disabled children and adults proved to be a challenging experience for this author. The role required the use of skills in assessment, and teaching, as well as rehabilitation. The work was demanding but rewarding, and served to convince the author that the position required the expertise of a specialist in rehabilitation nursing.
