    • Carol Ann Magadanz Emerick, a graduate of Wayne State University, has been a rehabilitation nurse at the University of Michigan Hospital since 1971. She is currently Assistant Head Nurse of the Rehabilitation Unit and a consultant to the doctors and nurses of the University Medical Center in the area of Neurogenic Bowel Management.


ABSTRACT

Loss of bowel control accompanies many diseases and injuries of the brain and spinal cord. This devastating loss to the patient can be treated by the nurse, equipped with an understanding of bowel physiology and the effects of diet and medications.
