Visiting Nurses' Association, 5807 Oak Garden Court, Orangevale, CA 95662.

As with other nursing problems, management of dermal ulcers requires interventions that are logical, systematic and theory-based. Using knowledge of normal skin function and normal healing processes, a model is presented for assessment, identifying treatment goals, and selecting treatment options. Conditions and factors that influence healing are emphasized as part of the assessment process.
