Abstract

Raman microspectroscopy and advanced statistics is used for the identification of body fluid traces for forensic purposes. Specifically, this approach allows for differentiating peripheral and menstrual blood traces with 100% sensitivity and specificity. Forensic investigators can potentially use this new method for characterizing trace evidence and reconstructing the events at a crime scene.
