Abstract
The beam quality-range that used to be reserved for lamp-pumped solid-state lasers is now covered by fiber-coupled diode lasers. Accordingly, the diode laser is more and more displacing the lamppumped solid-state lasers in different application fields, among these being laserbased plastics welding. End-users have gained confidence in this process, thus, product acceptance, particularly in the automotive and automotive suppliers industry is at a high level. Also within medical device manufacturing, this method continuously takes over different applications. Especially in this field, laser plastics welding is advantageous since high weld qualities are required.
