Abstract

Key Points

  • 1Yearly screening of liver recipients with serum cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipoproteins, and assessment for risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, is an important component of comprehensive post transplant care.
  • 2Revised guidelines and target levels of LDL-cholesterol levels specific for moderate and high cardiovascular risk patients have been recently revised.
  • 3Transplant physicians should be aware of advances in the management of post transplant arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and nicotine dependence. (Liver Transpl 2005;11:S52–S56.)
