Cover: A convenient preparation for a new type of macrocyclic and linear oligomers with carbohydrate moiety (methyl α-D-mannopyranoside and salicylaldehyde derivatives) is reported. The thermodynamically controlled reaction to make macrocycles as well as linear oligomers in the absence of template becomes a valuable addition to the limited number of reaction types using dynamic covalent chemistry.
