      Cover: The images show the aged microstructure of the heat resistant centrifugal cast alloy 35/45LC (Low Carbon - LC) after creep rupture test (871°C/55.2 MPa/124hrs) using different imaging techniques: LM-DIC, Light Microscopy - Differential Interference Contrast; SEM-BSE, Scanning Electron Microscopy - Back Scattered Electrons; LM-ZnSe, Vaporization with Zinc Selenide for Interference Layer Metallography; LM-FC, Light Microscopy - False Color Image; EPMA, Elemental Maps of C, Cr, Ni, Si and Nb recorded by Electron Probe Micro-Analysis.

      The characterization of two different types of carbides and phases (MC, M23C6, α' and G-Phase) only succeeded by using different methods. Alloy 35/45 LC is one of four alloys used for high temperature applications in the chemical and petrochemical process industry being investigated at the DECHEMA-Forschungsinstitut, Frankfurt am Main, Germany in a new Project Atlas of Microstructures II which is financed by MTI Materials Technology Institute, St. Louis, USA. Based on the Atlas of Microstructures I (ISBN 978-1-57698-046-0) which was published in 2008 the new Atlas, which is scheduled to be published in 2013, describes the microstructural changes taking place during long term aging in the heat resistant centrifugal casting alloys 35/45LC, HPLC, 20-32Nb and in the wrought Ni-base alloy Haynes 230 with increasing exposure times and temperatures.
