Cover: Phase development mechanism during drawing from highly entangled melt of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene was analyzed by simultaneous measurements of in situ X-ray diffraction using synchrotron radiation and stress/strain behavior. Crystallization into a metastable hexagonal form was predominantly induced during drawing from highly entangled polyethylene melt beyond a critical strain, but it transformed into a stable orthorhombic form with further draw.
